~ Blurb ~

Drakkar Dragoni, the only son of Princess Absinthe Dragoni, always believed what his mother told him. Humans were nothing more than cattle, raised to nourish their kind and her half brother, Jared Bonatelli, stole from her a kingdom that was rightfully hers. He vowed to right this wrong even if it meant Jared dies by his hand.

But what if none of it was true?
What if it was all…. A LIE?

Who can he turn to?
Who can he trust to help him make things right again?

~ Excerpt ~

From the edge of the clearing a dark figure lurked among the shadows. Weaving between the trees, the uninvited guest tried to get as close as he could to the soft music and candle lit tent behind the grand blue Victorian mansion. Muffled conversation and laughter drifted in his direction on the crisp February breeze.

Something inside him ached to be a part of it. To slip inside the tent and watch the celebration up close and personal. He’d never known true happiness. Never witnessed the purest form of love these people were now basking in. What he wouldn’t give to feel it for himself, just once.

Yeah, sure, and pigs will one day sprout wings and fly away.

A vibration in his back pocket stopped him in his tracks. Drakkar pulled his cellphone out glancing at the screen. Narrowing his eyes at the caller’s name, he debated about answering it. What was the worst that could happen? With any luck ignoring her would have him thrown out on the street in no time. In fact that was the lesser of two evils.

Swiping his thumb across the screen he closed his eyes readying for the rant that was about to come. All it took was a split second. His mother’s shriek made his ears bleed.

“Drakkar! Where the hell have you been? I’ve been trying to call you for hours.” Absinthe’s voice was hard and cold. It resembled nothing a mother worried about her only son’s whereabouts would sound like.

“I was in class. What do you want?” He snarled back at her. It was all a lie but she had no clue. Absinthe only cared about herself.

“That’s no way to address me, Drakaar. You forget I can have your pathetic existence squashed at any moment.” She threatened.

“So you keep reminding me.” It was getting to the point where he wished she would make good on her threat. At least then he could be free of her. Counting to ten he relaxed slightly. “Was there something you needed?” Mommy Dearest.

“Much better.” She purred making his skin crawl. “I need you to come directly home after school gets out. Something has come up.”

Oh for the love of…

Drakaar strained his neck to see two people sneaking out of the tent. The wolf and his bride made a quick check of their surroundings before disappearing through glass French doors. His sensitive hearing caught the sweet sound of her voice just as she whispered her love to him. With a growl the wolf kicked the door shut. The silhouette of the groom carrying his bride across the room vanished around a corner inside the house. The reflected glow from Drake’s eyes dimmed against the bark of the tree he hid behind.

“Drakaar?” Absinthe’s voice broke his concentration.

Gritting his teeth, he shrugged off the invisible hand he knew she would have placed on his shoulder. “What?”

“I said I need you home. Are you well? You don’t sound like yourself.”

He wasn’t fooled by the concern in her voice. Absinthe could care less if something was bothering him. The only reason she might even give it a second thought was if the issue interfered with her plans. Gods forbid he might be feeling, worrying or even needing something. If it didn’t concern her, his mother didn’t want to be bothered.

Glancing back toward the large white tent, Drakkar noticed people starting to leave. He shrunk back into the brush allowing the branches to swallow him. “Fine. I’ll be there.”

“Excellent. Do try to not be late.” And then the Poison Princess was gone.

“Thanks for small favors.” He whispered.

There was no point in telling her he cut out early to spy on the wedding. It would only piss her off and that was something he could do without. Ever since Bonatelli reared his ugly head, his mother did a complete one eighty on him. He used to actually believe Absinthe loved him. Now, he caught her looking at him with disgust. Even when she spoke to him it was infused with venom half of the time.

Yet, as he sat in the weeds watching the way her enemies interacted and spoke to each other, it was evident what he endured was not normal. Bonatelli and his cohorts did not seem to be the monsters Absinthe painted them to be. He actually treated everyone he met with a loving respect, especially his very pregnant wife. There was no mistaking what he saw between Jared and his soon to be Queen, unconditional -I’d die to protect you- love.

When had Absinthe ever treated him that way? The answer -never.

Drakkar slipped his phone in the side pocket of the backpack resting beside him before swinging it over his shoulder. A slight tingle on the back of his neck hinted sunrise was coming soon. If he sat here wishing on fairytales much longer, his mother’s wrath would be the least of his problems.

He was just about to turn and leave when the scent of strawberries hit him. Inhaling deeply, Drakkar looked toward the tent. A couple emerged accompanied by a black haired girl roughly his age. The scent grew stronger when the girl’s toffee colored eyes gazed in his direction. He couldn’t move. Just one look from her and he was paralyzed.

Drake’s gums began to throb painfully. He covered his mouth just as his fangs began to descend in his mouth and ducked deeper into the brush. The way his body reacted to the human confused him. He’d been around his mother’s human servants all of his life and he never had the urge to claim any of them. He did feed from them on occasion but this was different. Something inside him wanted her as his.

Christian Lancelot Du Lac was never one to take a situation seriously. Growing up he had always been the comedic relief to Jared Bonatelli’s brooding nature. ~ Excerpt ~

His door closing woke Lance. He lay in his side, back to the door. The position gave him the opportunity to wrap his fingers tightly around the dagger beneath his pillow. The air stirred slightly, letting him know the trespasser was surveying their surroundings. Lance braced himself for the attack.
His first reaction–Zephyr had returned to test his patience again.
Instead of being assaulted by au de vampire, the soothing aroma of blooming heather filled him. Lance instantly relaxed, recognizing Elizabeth’s unique scent. Confused, he lay still waiting for her to make her move, but she stood near the door still as a statue. Silently he willed her to come closer. As if she heard him, Elizabeth stepped closer until she was mere inches from the bed.
Releasing the dagger, Lance rolled onto his back, eyes closed, waiting. Expecting to sense her fear, he was surprised when he felt was hesitence. He cracked open one eye, thankful the wolf’s night vision was still part of him. She stood, watching him sleep. The moonlight illuminated her face. Her emerald eyes sparkled. The soft curve of her cheek beckoned him to touch it. Her full pink lips parted slightly as she breathed. It took all of his resolve not to reach out to her and taste them.
The mattress creaked under her weight as she sat beside him. Lance immediately shut his eye. With a shaking hand she brushed the hair back from his face revealing a dark bruise on his cheekbone.
“This is entirely my fault. I’m so sorry,” she whispered.
Elizabeth touched it lightly. He winced, opening his eyes. His scalding hazel gaze met hers. Before she could pull back, he caught her wrist and pulled her closer. She gasped but did not pull away. His other hand cupped her cheek; his thumb caressing the velvet softness of it. Her lips parted to speak. Lance never gave her the chance. He pulled her down onto the bed, rolled over her, trapping her beneath him.
He nudged her nose with the tip of his. “You have no idea how dangerous this game is you play, cher.”
“I assure you, My Lord, ‘tis not a game I play.” She wiggled beneath him attempting to loosen his hold.
“Ah, I’d be very careful if I were you. Don’t start something you aren’t prepared to go through with, My Lady.” He pressed his arousal against the juncture of her thighs.
Elizabeth gasped. “You would not!”
He rubbed his stubbled cheek against her smooth one leaving a blush of pink flesh in its wake. Burying his nose in her wavy ginger tresses, he inhaled her scent, sighing. “No, I wouldn’t.” Lifting his head, Lance stared into the green eyes. “But I won’t lie and say the idea hasn’t occurred to me.”
“How dare you speak to me thus.” She tried to slap him, but Lance caught her hand, pinning it to the bed.
“How dare I? Okay, let’s examine this, shall we?” The corner of his mouth tugged with amusement. “You snuck into my room and caressed my face. I’m quite sure if I hadn’t stopped you, you would have crawled into bed with me to cuddle. Am I right?”
“Nay!” She hissed. “I came to make sure you were well. Your mother told me–”
Lance groaned leaning his forehead on hers. “And the mood is gone.”
“What? What did I do?”
Lance smirked. “A little lesson for you. When there is a man in your bed, never, and I do mean never mention his mother. Its cock-block central.”
She frowned. “I swear to the heavens your words confuse me. Cock-block? What does a rooster have to do with any of this?”
Laughter rumbled in his chest. “Not a rooster. It means, cher, that mentioning my mother has officially put me out of the mood to bed you. Is that better?” He let go of her hands and shifted off her.
“Nay.”
“Would you rather I did bed you then?” Lance wrapped a stray tendril of her hair around his index finger hiding his smile.
“Nay! ‘Tis not what I said.”
“Then tell me, Beth, what is it you came looking for? Why are you here?”
Instead of answering him, her hands framed his face and pulled him down to her. Their lips met. A bolt of lightning shot through him. Lance growled. The wolf pushed its way to the front, wanting to devour her. His tongue teased hers, tasting the sweet honey her mouth had to offer. Breaking the kiss, he nipped her bottom lip. “For someone who doesn’t want to be in bed with me, you have a hell of a way of showing it.”
She stroked the bruise on his cheek with her fingertips. “I did not come here to lay with you, Christian. I came to make sure you were safe. I was told that you fought with Sir Galahad.”
“Another lesson, cher. Don’t bring up the lil’ bro either.” He chuckled.
She let out a frustrated breath. “Then pray tell me, what I can say? I am trying to explain why I am here.”
“I’m teasing. Please, go on.” He brushed her lips with his.
“Like I said, I was told of the fight and had to see for myself that you were unharmed. I know the strength Sir Galahad has in his sword arm.”
Lance growled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
She rolled her eyes. “It means he is a powerful knight. You shall see for yourself at the tournament.” She cupped the bruised cheek. “Judging from this, I can see you already know that.”
His hand covered hers as he turned his lips into her palm. “Yeah, well you should see him. I got in a few good punches too.”
“Oh, I fully intend to.” She pushed up and sat on the edge of the bed, arranging her cloak around her.
“What? Wait, there’s no way I’m letting you do that.”
“No way you will let me? I am sorry, Christian, you may be appointed my personal guard, but you have no claim over me. I am free to do as I wish. See who I want to see.” Standing abruptly, she put distance between them.
“And go from one bed to another in the middle of the night? Really, Elizabeth?”
“I am not a common whore and you will not address me that way.” Her hand connected with his already bruised cheek quicker than a cobra strike. The slap echoed in the darkness. Pain flared across Lance’s face.
His lip curled in a snarl. “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck . . .”
She stared at him blankly. “Nothing you say ever makes sense to me.” Elizabeth backed away till her heels hit the door behind her. “I was wrong to come here. I should have heeded your mother’s warning.” She turned and wrapped her fingers around the door handle.
“Beth, wait.” Lance rose and stepped behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders. “What did my mother say to you?”
“Lady Elaine said she would bend the King’s ear to break my betrothal, but . . .”
He turned her to face him. “But? What condition did she put on her help?”
Elizabeth kept her eyes downcast, focusing on the fabric she twisted in her fingers. “Her ladyship bade me to stay away from both you and Galahad.”
Lance cupped her face in his hands, gently forcing her to look at him. “And what reason did she give for that?” The wolf was alert and pacing in his mind.
“She said Sir Galahad was meant for something greater and you would be leaving again. She warned me to stay away from you both.”
His thumb traced her bottom lip. “And what is it you want?” He leaned in closer, his lips a breath away from hers.
“I do not know.” Her whisper was barely audible.
Reaching behind her, Lance opened the door. “Until you do, cher, I suggest you heed her warning and stay away.”
Elizabeth blinked and pulled away, pausing to glance in his direction once more before slipping into the torch lit passageway.

Beyond the Sun

By ~ Sandra Bischoff

Genre ~ Paranormal Romance

Beyond the Sun cover2

Fifteen years ago, Jared Bonatelli had it all.  The youngest son of one of the founding families in the Conservatorship of The Dark Order he lived a life you only thought existed in novels and nightmares.  He had just graduated from Oxford University and became engaged to his childhood sweetheart when he lost it all in one violent act.  The very next day he found himself shipped off to New Orleans with only the money in his pocket and whatever he could fit in one suitcase.  Since that night, he has suffered reliving his fiancé’s murder repeatedly in his dreams.  It isn’t until he finds himself summoned back to New York for an emergency meeting of the Conservatorship that the comfortable world he lives in begins to crumble around him.

Alexandra Toscano has been searching for the one assignment that could catapult her journalistic career.  When her editor Gene O’Hanlon drops a manila folder in her lap, Alex is immediately skeptical.   At first glance, the information he hands her seems like a publicity piece that is until she comes across an article he wrote some fifteen years ago about Vampires murdering a young woman in Central Park.  She is ready to laugh it off as a work of fiction until he points out he was an eye witness to the whole thing.  But that wasn’t all.  The girl’s boyfriend was a member of a prominent Italian family who vanished the very next day.

Now as Alex begins to dig deeper into Jared’s life, she begins to question her own past.  Could the answer she seeks be found in the glowing eyes of the one person she is sworn to expose?  Or will they both find themselves torn apart by a world Beyond the Sun?

Excerpt

“Hell no.” Alex stared at the sheet of paper in her hand. This couldn’t be happening to her, not again. It was the third time in a month her boss, Gene, had pulled this crap on her.

“He can’t be serious.” She scoffed at the absurdity of the new assignment in her hand.

She glared over the wall of her cubicle at the pimple-faced, red-headed mail boy. He gulped and shuffled around a few envelopes, escaping to the next cubicle. It wasn’t the kid’s fault, but he was the messenger and they always got the bad end of the stick throughout history. God, she needed to strangle someone. Alex ran a hand through her hair, pulling the long chestnut mass out of her eyes.

Alex pushed out her chair and crushed the paper in her hand, intending to throw it in the circular file. She paused and sighed. No, it would be better to give the SOB a piece of her mind for a change. Standing, she stalked to the glass-enclosed office at the end of the hall.

“You have got to be kidding me. You’re not serious about this, are you?” She threw the paper on the desk next to his laptop.

Gene O’Hanlon didn’t lift his attention from the keyboard. “Get the door, would you?” He kept typing. When she didn’t move, he glanced at her over his glasses. “Alex, I’m not going to get into this with an audience. Close the door.”

Alex kicked the door shut. The glass walls vibrated, and a few sheets of paper slipped free from the overstuffed bookshelf behind him. She folded her arms across her chest and glared.

Gene leaned back in his worn black leather office chair. He removed his glasses and placed them on the scuffed oak desktop, rubbing his eyes with his other hand. The man appeared to be tired and completely drained. She felt a twinge of guilt for storming into his office until he leveled those harsh green eyes on her.

“Alex, everyone here has to pay their dues. How would it look if I played favorites with stories, huh?”

“Problem is, Gene, I paid and then some. You know it.”

“The assignment stays.” He linked his hands behind his head, leaning back in his chair.

The gray hair at his temples stuck out in a way reminiscent of the Nutty Professor. He jerked his chin toward the chairs in front of his desk. Alex gave him one more hostile glare before she complied and sat across from him, crossing her long, slender legs and leaning back.

“This is a puff piece for your gossip column, Gene. You know it, and I know it. Why are you saddling me with this?”

“This is hardly a puff piece, Alex.”

“I don’t do publicity. I do serious investigative reporting. There’s nothing serious about a millionaire hot shot in Orange County. From what I can see, he never worked a hard day in his life. Mommy and Daddy probably left him a real nice trust fund.” Yeah, while I’m forced to scrape nickels together to make a Chelsea rent payment. Gotta love NewYork.

Gene pushed a folder toward her and flipped open the cover. “Like I said, this is not a puff piece, Alex. Look at him. You can’t tell me that you don’t recognize Jared Bonatelli.”

“No, Gene. I’ve never seen him before. Why should I recognize him?” Her gaze roamed over the photo. The way Bonatelli gazed into the camera mesmerized her.

Gene continued. “It’s been a while, years in fact, since he was major news. But this kid,” He tapped his eraser on the photo. “This millionaire is hardly a spoiled brat. He’s been through, shall we say, the supernatural ranks.”

Alex frowned, eyeing Gene. “Supernatural?” She laughed. “What the hell do you mean? Is he a Warlock? Does he go ghost hunting? Or better yet, is he one of those people who claim they were abducted by aliens? Come on, it reeks of publicity stunt.”

Picking up the file, Alex flipped through the pages. Bonatelli’s life seemed pretty straight forward: a little rich boy who grew up in a prominent Italian family and attended college abroad with straight A’s, likely bought for the right price.

She came to the last page in the file. It was an old article from a small New Jersey newspaper. Time had yellowed the paper, but the print quality wasn’t what drew her in.

“Are you serious? Vampires? The reporter actually claims vampires killed Bonatelli’s fiancé.”

She was ready to toss the folder back on the desk when she read the byline. Alex stared at the paper, shocked. The man in front of her raised a brow in silence.

“You? You reported this? How? What? I don’t get it.”

“Apparently.”

Gene stood and walked over to the windows of his office overlooking Central Park. He folded his arms across his chest and stared at the barren treetops. “I’d just landed a job in a small town paper reporting on the daily trash. Who was I to expect a job at Newsday or the Wall Street Journal fresh out of college? You have to work your way up to the big leagues.”

He pointed at the park. “It all happened right down there. I saw it all. They had no idea I was there, but I was. The girl’s life was sucked out of her. I saw the kid try to save her. He wasn’t surprised when they appeared, not like I was. He fought them off like a pro; he’d definitely done it before. When it appeared they were going to kill him, another one appeared out of nowhere. Poof.” Gene swung back toward her. “I never saw the new guy touch them. They all just vanished in a big flash of light the moment he spotted them. It wasn’t enough to save the girl, though. After the attack, Bonatelli vanished off the face of the earth. I’m telling you, Alex. Everything in the article is real. I saw it. I lived it.”

Alex stared at him in silence. The whole thing was unbelievable. What Gene told her was a plot for a novel or insane tabloid articles, not something a respectable news source reported.

She tapped a fingernail on the manila folder in her lap, trying to find the right way to tell him the story was insane. Unfortunately, he seemed to believe everything he said.

“Gene, are you sure you saw it happen? I mean, it could be you saw an everyday mugging gone bad? You obviously weren’t close enough to see them clearly; they would have known you were there. And if it happened, why in the world are you assigning me a dead story?”

He walked over and sat on the edge of his desk in front of her. Gene lifted the folder from her lap and flipped it open to the picture. He removed the photo, holding it up for her to see. “Because, Alex, he’s back. Returned from God knows where. I want you to find out why they brought him here.”

Gene handed her back the folder. “Bonatelli is supposed to attend a fundraiser hosted by an old and powerful family. They are royalty in their country. Your invitation and their background info are in the yellow envelope. Any credentials you may need to get in are there, as well.”

“Yeah right,” she laughed. “Me hanging out with royalty, you’ve gone off the deep end.”

He raised his hand to silence her. “Also, a dress has been ordered for you and will be delivered to your cubicle by the end of the day.”

Alex blinked. She couldn’t even begin to think of how to react to everything he’d laid out in front of her. When she regained her composure, Alex took a deep breath and let out an undignified snort. “They,” she paused. “I think you need to lay off the liquid lunches, Gene. Ok boss man, I’ll bite. Who in the world are ‘they’?”

Gene’s face held no trace of humor whatsoever. “They, my dear, happen to be the things nightmares are made of.”

Unnatural

By ~ Leah D.W.

Genre ~ Paranormal

Unnatural

~ Blurb ~

Witches scheming in the night,

Werewolves hunting during a full moon,

A vampires eyes ever watching…

This collection of short stories are filled with the dark tales of the supernatural and the powerful, with roaring dragons, their wings shadowing the skies, and ghosts who aren’t as deadly as rumors may tell.

Enter a world of the paranormal, but be warned: not all fairytales end in a happily ever after.

~ Sandi’s Review ~

Leah D.W.’s Unnatural is a compilation of short stories that are a must have for anyone who loves the paranormal. I found myself getting so absorbed in her characters I was disappointed when the stories ended. I wanted to know more! There were a few I think would be great as full length novels or even novellas. I can only hope that someday we will be allowed to read more about them. From Aaron to Anna to Marcus and Axel everyone will find something to love in this book. You must add it to your reading list!

~ Interview with Leah ~

1. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?

It could be a picture I’ve seen, a song playing on the radio or even what someone said. Sometimes the idea for a story or character just pops into my head and the rest follows as I start planning it out.

2Did you have to do any research for Unnatural? If so what?

I did research for Full Moon Blues, about the myth of how the seventh son of a seventh son becomes a werewolf and for The Devil’s Belt I researched about a French legend of the first werewolf that gave me the inspiration for the short story. I usually either make up my own places or use my knowledge of myths and paranormal creatures to create my characters. Most of my knowledge of these things is what I have read about in other novels or seen on TV or movies.

3.  Is there a genre you haven’t written in that one day you’d like to tackle?

I would love to write horror and crime mysteries. I am now only busy with paranormal stories and I would love to do some suspense thrillers that are just fiction and have no monsters in them. I love writing paranormal and will never stop but writing something else would be great as well.

4. Out of all the books you have written, do you have a favorite?

My favourite so far is The Runaway’s Secret, it has all my favourite characters in it and the academy for supernaturals is a place I would love to visit, plus meeting Solomon would be a dream come true haha.

5. Is there any Author you would like to collaborate with on a project?

I have several. The awesome ladies at Bayou Brew Publishing of course, Richelle Mead, Kelly Armstrong, Josephine Angelini…the list goes on. It would be a dream come true to work with any one of them, and I have already had the pleasure of brain storming with Monique o’Connor James which was such a great experience.

6. Do you have a favorite Author? If so, who and why?

Definitely Cassandra Clare. She is my all time fave author and a great inspiration. I can only dream of having my books become as popular as hers.

7. How did you celebrate the first time you signed with a publisher?

I basically did a happy dance and told everyone I knew.

8. Lastly, do you have any advice for other aspiring authors?

Just keep on writing. There were many times I wanted to give up, to change my dream but I stuck to it and everything fell in place. Just keep going, and never give up. If a story isn’t working for you then get a new idea, even if you stick with the same characters.

Short n Sweet:

Whipped cream or Hot Fudge? Hot fudge! I am a chocoholic and proud!

Silk or Lace? lace

Hot or Cold? cold

Boxer, Brief, or Commando? Lol *blush* boxer..

Black or Red? black

Hot Tub or Pool? pool

from Full Moon Blues:

Aaron’s whole body shook as the gaze of the moon upon him awakened the beast within. He tried to stop it, to lull it back to sleep, but it always came out when it was a full moon. He dropped onto all fours and heaved out deep pained breaths as his body started to attack itself.

It wasn’t natural to be like this. His body wasn’t built to withstand such changes. But he would rather live with it than watch one of his other brothers have such a terrible blight.

A cry got stuck in his burning throat, and everyone watched silently as he lowered his head to press his forehead against the cool steel floor of the cage, chains rattling loudly into the quiet night.

A slight hum started to spread within his bones, and sweat rolled down his face and back as his body broke in on itself and then rebuilt into the image of the beast.

Aaron watched as his nails grew and scraped against hard metal and his dark hair spread across the rest of his body, covering it completely with ink black fur under his shirt and swimming trunks.

His vision darkened, but Aaron didn’t panic. He knew that it would return sharper and better, in a few seconds. He would be able to see any and every creature or thing that he came across. He would be able to follow their every move as they try to run away from the beast, but they never make it.

The beast was just too powerful. He would scream at it, beg it to stop, but it was blind to its bloodlust. All it wanted to do, all that it knew how to do was kill.

The man straddling the Harley was, in one word…juicy.

Adult novelty store owner Tina James loves a good adventure, and the man peering at her through onyx black eyes is the closest thing to adventure she’s ever come across. Unless of course, you count the mugging at gunpoint she experienced only hours earlier.

Leather clad Alex Monroe and his big bike just moved to number one on Tina’s sexiest man alive list, and with every searing kiss, every white hot caress, Tina finds herself living out her wildest fantasies with the man of her dreams.

But is it all too good to be true?

There’s something about Alex, from his unusual habit of only leaving the house at night, to his amazing speed and strength that has Tina wondering what exactly the man she’s falling head over heels for is hiding?

Meeting Tina James is the best thing that’s happened to Alex in the last five hundred years. She’s spunky, sassy, and beyond sexy.

But there’s a problem…or three.

Alex is a vampire, Tina’s a mortal, and he’s searching for a rogue vampire who just so happens to have his sights set on her as his next victim.

Now, not only does Alex have to find a way to tell the woman he loves what he is, he has to catch the killer before he loses her forever.

~ Sandi’s Review ~

Simply put, I loved this book!

Chastity Bush possesses the power to spin words into a story of gold. I have read a few of her books and this one was like all of the others, it did not disappoint in any way.

Tina, adult store owner, and Alex, vampire detective, are brought together by a series of murders. The mystery surrounding the killings only solidifies a connection between the two. As Alex tried to uncover the culprit behind the deaths, he soon realizes that his destiny is with Tina. When he figures out she is the ultimate target he moves heaven and earth to keep her safe.

I won’t give any spoilers. Suffice it to say, I never saw the end coming! Chastity literally left me gaping in surprise.

Oh and did I already mention, I LOVED this book?

~ Interview with Chastity ~

  1. From where do you get your writing inspiration?

Honestly? I’ve always loved writing. In my pre-teen and teen years I always had a pen on paper scribbling out something, even if it was just a little bit about my day but the idea to write my own books came to me with the help of my husband. I mentioned it, he said go for it, and the rest is history.

  1. Did you have to do any research for Killer Kisses? If so what?

Nope. Research really isn’t my thing when I’m writing a paranormal, unless I absolutely need to get some cop terms, or rules. I usually just wing it. I know that sounds crazy, but I’ve found that’s how my best work gets done. I sit down and what ever hits the page is apparently what needs to come out.

  1. Given Tina is the owner of an Adult Novelty Store, name one item from the store she would love to use on Alex.

Cat-O-Nine Tails (Flogger). Tina appears a bit reserved, but I’m sure once you put a multi-tailed whip in her hand, I’m sure she’d have no problem letting her inner wildcat run free.

  1. In your eyes, what makes Alex special? Does he have any flaws he doesn’t want us to know about?

Flaws? Actually I think Alex is my only flawless character despite the fact that he thinks he has several. I think his kind, gentle, yet determined and fearless character make him special, if only to me. When Alex says he’s going to do something, there’s no doubt he’s going to follow through or die trying.

  1. Does Tina take after you? Or is she someone you wish you could be?

There’s a little bit of me in all of my female characters. It’s usually something small, like the lift of one eyebrow when she’s completely unconvinced, a little sarcasm tossed about here and there, or just her small stature.  Tina was based on my behavior a little more than my other characters, and I have no real reason why, as this is something I stay away from. It’s actually a general rule of mine NOT to make a character in my own image. But for some reason, Tina turned out a lot more like me than I wanted or ever expected.

  1. Is there a genre you haven’t written in that one day you’d like to tackle?

Oh, absolutely! I love Victorian Era historical’s. There’s nothing I love to read more than something by Stephanie Laurens, Jillian Hunter, Kasey Michael. Just the thought of the London Season, the balls, the rakish Lords in their elegant clothing who are gentlemen in public and demons in the sack. God, I love that genre!!!

  1. What was the craziest thing you’ve ever done when it came to a storyline in your book?

I stepped completely out of my comfort zone when I wrote Reluctant Angel. I knew there were going to be people who wouldn’t even touch the book because it’s about an angel, and for the most part to be honest, this is my least selling book, and I think it’s because of that very reason. BUT this book is NOT an inspiration, nor is it spiritual. The title of a book can be deceiving. This book was a lot of fun to write and it remains one of my favorite to have written, and boy is it scorching hot?!

  1. Out of all the books you have written, do you have a favorite?

Killer Kisses, hands down. This book was so much fun, you can’t help but get attached to every character, and from the moment Tina gets sassy with the cop in the first chapter, you can’t help but fall in love with her.

  1. How did you celebrate the first time you signed with a publisher?

I wrote another book. J

  1. Lastly, do you have any advice for other aspiring authors?

RESEARCH! Before you submit to any publisher, agent, or editor gather as much information about that company/person as possible. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but not all in the publishing industry are out to help you. As a matter of fact, I still have a book tied up with a company I should never have signed with, and I still can’t get my fantastic books rights returned to me. So please, BE CAREFUL!

And one more thing, don’t write for money. Write because you love it, because it’s your passion, because you can’t imagine your life without it. The moment you start writing for money is the day you should find a new career.

Short n Sweet:

Whipped cream or Hot Fudge? Whipped cream… on EVERYTHING! J

Silk or Lace? Silk. Lace gets itchy.

Hot or Cold? Hmm, if we’re talking about the weather, I’d have to say, cooler. I love to wear my boots!

Boxer, Brief, or Commando? For me? Usually? Commando! But I have been known to sport Batman panties a time or two. J For men? All of the above. J

Black or Red? Black. Always black.

Hot Tub or Pool? Pool. I love swimming in a pool.

Thanks for having me here today, Sandi!

~ Excerpt ~

The cold, night air swirled around Alex as he rode down the desolate streets. The motorcycle beneath him rumbled, sending a wave of comfort throughout his tired body.
He was a long way from home and for Alex Monroe the old saying was true; there’s no place like home.
He’d spent the entire night in his hotel room searching through cold case files, going back years and years, looking deeper at unsolved murders, trying his hardest to find something, anything that would lead him in the right direction. He needed to find this murderer and fast. It was only a matter of time before he slipped up and exposed their kind to the entire world, spelling disaster for them all.
Only sparkly, vegetarian vampires appealed to most people nowadays, and he was neither sparkly, nor vegetarian.
Rounding the corner, Alex wondered if his contact inside the precinct would have any new leads to share with him. He doubted it; the local authorities didn’t have a single shred of evidence to help lead them toward who the killer might be. He’d hoped to find some connection between the recent murders and some of the unsolved ones from the past. But so far, he’d hit a dead-end.
The sooner he got this mystery solved, the sooner the women of this city would be safe…from this killer anyway, there would always be others wreaking havoc somewhere.
And he would be there to hunt them down.
It was his job. As an Immortal Detective he would do whatever it took to end the terror rogues caused with their senseless killing.
Pulling next to the curb in front of the police station, a flash of gold caught his attention.
Taking a closer look through the dim streetlight, he frowned.
A lone woman walked along the desolate sidewalk. Her long, sandy-blonde hair whipped in the breeze as she pulled her lightweight jacket tighter around her small frame.
“What the hell is she doing?” he asked himself aloud.
Didn’t she know there was a killer on the loose? Why would she be walking the streets alone at three o’clock in the morning?
Sometimes Alex couldn’t help but wonder how humans had lived so long without being overrun by his- or any other- species.
Before he knew what he was doing, Alex pulled away from the curb, and rolled his bike along the street beside the woman.
Alex wasn’t your typical knight in shining armor. He wasn’t even what someone would consider valiant, it just wasn’t in his nature, but something inside him wouldn’t let him turn his back on this woman.
“Are you all right?” he called loudly over the rumble of the motorcycle.
Stopping, she turned to face him, and all thought fled his mind at the beauty revealed before him.
Large, sea green eyes bore into him as her gaze widened cautiously.
Despite her petite stature, her legs, encased in tight, distressed jeans, were long and shapely.
Letting his eyes sweep over her boldly, he took in every inch of her lithe body, as though admiring every brushstroke of a masterpiece.
Her skin was a flawless, creamy ivory with a pinch of rose color staining her cheeks and nose from the bite of the crisp night air.
“Listen,” she said wearily, “if you’re looking to rob me, you’re too late. Someone beat you to it about three hours ago.”
Smiling, Alex shut off his bike.
“Actually, I was just wondering why a beautiful woman such as yourself would be walking alone in the dark when there’s a killer on the loose.”
And she is beautiful, he mused.
Stunning even. He’d lived a long time and faced countless women, but could remember none who matched her in beauty.
The impulse to reach out and grab her, to pull her against his chest and explore every delectable inch of her, rocketed through him like a bolt of lightening.
Taking a deep breath, Alex struggled to rein in his fast rising desire.
What had gotten into him? There was one rule he refused to break; never get involved with a mortal. Once they found out his secret, it was all over. But something about this sarcastic little bundle pushed him, urging him to learn more about her.
Just the sight of her held him on a razors edge. The silky glide of her voice only added to his desire.
Cocking a brow, she tilted her head. “I didn’t have much say in the matter. Some skuzz-bucket robbed me after I left work. He took my purse, which had everything in it, and the creepy cop who took my statement didn’t offer to give me a ride home or let me call anyone to come pick me up. So, here I am.” She finished, waving her hand in the air with exasperation.
She was feisty and, much to his surprise, he found he liked it. Alex never cared much for loud sarcastic women, but something was different about this one, and he couldn’t fight the feeling that he was supposed to know her. If he’d learned one thing in all of his years, it was to follow his instincts and at the moment, his instincts were screaming for him to grab hold of this woman and not let go.
He couldn’t let her continue on her way. Not only was it dangerous for her to be out alone this time of night, the knee-high, black leather boots on her feet looked like they would cripple her before she reached the end of the block.
How the hell do women wear those things?
“What was the cops’ name?”
“Briggs.” She grimaced, “He even tried to give me his number.” She shuddered as though the though disgusted her, and he chuckled.
He would have a little talk with his contact about Officer Briggs’ unacceptable behavior. But for now, he needed to get her on the back of his bike and her thighs pressed firmly against his hips.
“Let me give you a ride.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think so.” She laughed cynically.
“Why not?”
Suppressing a groan, Alex watched as she propped her hands on her wonderfully curved hips.
“Because, I’ve already been mugged tonight and I don’t wish to add raped and murdered to the list.”
Alex couldn’t contain the laughter that burst from his lips.
