~Our Review~
I will admit, I was drawn in by the cover of this. Paranormal And Fantasy happens to be the genres I both read and write in. So when I saw this book come up for review I thought, “Awesome! This has to be world building at its finest. I can’t wait to dive into this.”
Surrender ~ The Ferryman and The Flame was an intricately woven tale but at the same time it had the ability to confuse the heck out of me.
The book starts off with the “love at first sight” between Elvin names Kaliel and Krishani. This is forbidden among their kinsfolk because Elvin cannot fall in love. They marry the land. I honestly didn’t understand the whole “They marry the land” deal. If that were explained a little better it might help the reader or in my case the listener to connect with the story better.
As the book progressed you saw both of them head off into different places to train. Train for what exactly? I wasn’t sure but you see them start to grow and flourish as characters on their own. I truly enjoyed watching this. They both evolved into well rounded characters and when faced with their final “tests”, that’s the term I choose to use here because that’s exactly what it seemed they had, they were selfless acts done for the good of all and not themselves.
I won’t give any spoilers here. Just know it ends epically the way a great fantasy read should.
I look forward to reading more from this author. I believe she has the “it” factor and this book is the first stepping stone on a long path of success.
